To promote technical excellence, professional growth, and meaningful community service among professionals in Corporate America. We design and deliver impactful programming that advances technology awareness, strengthens career development, expands networking opportunities, and inspires academic achievement among youth.
As a professional organization, we proudly collaborate with partners such as the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) to support, welcome, and guide the next generation of technical professionals of African descent. Through intentional mentorship, leadership development, and community engagement, our annual efforts foster growth for youth, emerging professionals, and seasoned leaders alike, creating a lasting legacy of excellence and empowerment.
The Foundation
The Technical Association for Professionals in STEM (T.A.P.S.) is the culmination of decades of commitment, leadership, and community impact. Rooted in a 36-year tradition of technical professionals of African descent serving and uplifting their communities, T.A.P.S. represents both legacy and forward momentum.
Under the leadership of Niasia T. Williams, the vision was formally established in 2020 and intentionally cultivated over several years, leading to its official launch in 2023. Guided by our mission, “Empowering Afro STEM Professionals & Communities for a Brighter Future,” T.A.P.S. is dedicated to driving meaningful change across the state of Connecticut. Through professional excellence, mentorship, and community engagement, we are building a stronger, more connected, and more empowered STEM ecosystem for generations to come.
